Youth Mental Health First Aid®

The Issaquah Schools Foundation offers district teachers and staff access to Youth Mental Health First Aid® training at no charge. Because one in five youth will experience a mental health challenge, it is crucial that adults know how to identify, understand, and respond to young people showing signs of mental health or substance use concerns. This program builds knowledge, skills, and awareness of resources to feel more equipped to support students experiencing mental health challenges. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). The training helps adults gain skills around assessing safety and risk and then connecting youth to resources. Learn more at mentalhealthfirstaid.org.

The Issaquah Schools Foundation awards grants providing opportunities for high school students to participate in clubs. Here's what some of our students have to say!

Tena Weber

“I enjoyed the workshop immensely. I learned a lot of things, but feel the information on the 988 helpline as well as the demonstration on how to help a youth (or anyone) who has potentially overdosed is very practical information to have. It is obviously not one of those things where you can take precious time to look it up on the internet. So I am glad I now have that knowledge.”
